How to choose the right PTFE compensator?
The following are the key points and suggestions for choosing PTFE compensators, based on industry standards and actual application scenarios:
I. Core Selection Parameters
Medium properties
Strong acids and strong alkalis (such as sulfuric acid, hydrofluoric acid) should give priority to steel-lined PTFE compensators, as their PTFE inner lining can resist chemical corrosion .
For organic solvents or high-temperature media (≤260℃), it is recommended to use medium-pressure mesh sleeve type or spray-coated type PTFE compensators .
Temperature and pressure range
Normal operating conditions: -50℃ to 180℃ (steel-lined type), pressure ≤2.5MPa.
Extreme working conditions: The pure PTFE type can withstand temperatures up to -196℃ to +250℃, but has a relatively low pressure resistance (≤0.6MPa) .
Pipe size and compensation amount
Standard diameter: DN25-DN6000mm. The compensator specification should be matched according to the pipe diameter .
Compensation calculation: A 20% margin should be reserved to cope with thermal displacement (formula: △L=αL△t) .
Ii. Brand and Process Verification
Qualification document
Check whether the manufacturer provides GB/T 15700-2008 standard test report and flaw detection data .
Craftsmanship details
Check the uniformity of the corrugated pipe wall thickness and the smoothness of the flange welding to avoid burrs causing leakage .
Iii. Installation and Maintenance
Guide supports : Guide supports should be installed at both ends of the compensator, with a spacing of no more than 4 times the pipe diameter (L1≤4DN) .
Sealing test : After installation, a gas tightness test (with a pressure of 0.6MPa for 10 minutes) is required.
Hint : For special working conditions (such as vacuum environment), vacuum-resistant type (-0.098MPa) should be selected and a customized safety vent hole design should be made.
